Dan Johnson DVM, Diplomate ABVP- Exotic Companion Mammal

Dan Johnson is a 1992 graduate of North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine.  In 1996 he started North Carolina’s first all-exotics practice, Avian and Exotic Animal Care, located in Raleigh.  His caseload is made up entirely of exotic pets, fish, wildlife, and zoo species.  Dr. Johnson also serves as Adjunct Assistant Professor in the Department of Clinical Sciences at NCSU-CVM.  In 2010, he was certified as a Diplomate by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) specializing in Exotic Companion Mammal Practice. 

Adolf K. Maas DVM, Diplomate ABVP- Reptile and Amphibian

A Seattle native, Dr. Adolf Maas returned to the Pacific Northwest in 2006 after receiving experience and training at many high-ranked veterinary medical facilities in the U.S. and Canada.  Through this, he obtained unique exposures to all aspects of exotic animal medicine, ranging from rhinoceri to rattlesnakes, kinkajous to koi.  Dr. Maas has received advanced training and has extensive experience in orthopedic reconstruction and surgery, cardiac and abdominal ultrasonography, rigid and flexible endoscopy, soft tissue surgery and internal medicine. His experience contributed significantly to his obtaining ABVP board-certification in Reptile and Amphibian Medicine and Surgery, and becoming a Certified Aquatics Veterinarian.

Worked with exotics since vet school graduation.  My first year out I was veterinarian for the St Augustine, FL, Alligator Farm.  Then did a stint in emergency medicine before moving back to Texas

Practice expanded to a 4 Dr high level, diagnostic veterinary practice

Married with 4 kids, daughter, twin high school aged sons, and a middle school aged son. Soon to be a grandfather (may be as you receive this)

David Hannon, DVM, Diplomate ABVP- Avian

Dr. David Hannon is a 1993 graduate of Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine. He has practiced small and exotic animal medicine in the greater Memphis, TN area since June 1993.  In 2008 he became board-certified in avian medicine and surgery through the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners, and recertified in 2016. Dr. Hannon joined Memphis Veterinary Specialists in 2010, where his practice is limited to birds and exotic animals. He is also the principal veterinarian for the Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo, TN. He served on the board of directors of the Association of Reptile and Amphibian Veterinarians (ARAV), and was president of that organization in 2014-2015. He has two children, Jared and Devyn, a boxer (Dancer), a puggle (Apple), a pugweenie (Squirt), and a corn snake (Soleil). In his spare time he enjoys ballroom dancing with his wife Tracy, and fitness kickboxing.
